Goodwill of Orange County Introduces New Retail Concept, “RARE By Goodwill” in Anaheim

Opening December 5, the boutique offers unique shopping experience for re-purposed, one-of-a-kind goods

Anaheim, CA - November 24, 2014 – Goodwill of Orange County announced the opening of its new community concept store, RARE by Goodwill, set to open in Anaheim on Friday, December 5. The store focuses on the shopping experience; by creating a new retail concept to spark your imagination, be inspired and reinvent something to fit your individual personality.

The 4,708 square foot store will include hand-selected donated items sold at competitive prices. The focus will not be on re-purposed designer goods -- the focal point of the OC Goodwill Boutique in Tustin. Instead, the shopping experience will serve as a hub of inspiration to the creative community of Anaheim. Unique items, from clothing and shoes to home goods and décor, will be specially chosen and transformed into one-of-a-kind pieces by each individual shopper. Turn a picture frame into a chalkboard for your kitchen or transform a jacket into a stylish vest, RARE by Goodwill let’s you be the designer.

As with all Goodwill of Orange County retail locations, the unique items sold at RARE by Goodwill will help generate jobs for people facing barriers in the community. 92% of every purchase will go back into the job placement, education and vocational programs that help Orange County individuals including people with disabilities and veterans, find and keep purpose-fulfilling jobs.

“RARE by Goodwill introduces an entirely new shopping experience for the Anaheim community,” said Frank Talarico, Jr., President and CEO of Goodwill of Orange County. “Customers will find one-of-a-kind goods not found anywhere else, and their money goes right back into our programs in the same way it does at our other retail locations. This is another unique opportunity for us to offer more job training and increase our placement services.”

RARE by Goodwill is located at 411 W Broadway, Suites C-H, at the heart of Downtown Anaheim. Surrounded by newly built lofts, the historic Carnegie Hall and Muzeo Museum, and just up the road from the recently restored Anaheim Packing House, RARE by Goodwill fits perfectly into the revitalized and reestablished artistic destination. The boutique will be open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

About Goodwill of Orange County
Since 1924, Goodwill of Orange County has been in the business of helping people who are facing barriers to enter the workforce in a meaningful, fulfilling manner. Founded on the belief that every person should have the opportunity to achieve the independence that work provides, Goodwill is most recognized for being the conduit where donated goods are sold in America’s favorite thrift stores to generate the revenue that provides the services to those who face employment challenges. Celebrating its 90th year in 2014, Goodwill of Orange County has supported thousands of Orange County residents since its inception by creating and providing quality training and employment services to empower its program participants to be productive and independent. The nonprofit organization has dozens of programs that support this effort, including the Goodwill Fitness Center, Orange County’s only facility specially designed for people suffering from chronic illnesses and physical disabilities; its veterans’ advocacy program, Enduring Independence, which helps veterans and their families transition to civilian life through the power of work; and its Assistive Technology Exchange Center (ATEC), which provides access to more than 1,000 state-of-the-art technology devices for children and adults with disabilities. These are just a few of Goodwill of Orange County’s innovative programs that have served those facing barriers in Orange County for the past nine decades. In 2012, Goodwill was named one of Orange County’s Most Trusted Brands. To learn more about Goodwill of Orange County, visit
